Korokoro Country House

Conforming to the rural setting while confronting the poor performance of the NZ building code drove our clients to approach us with the task of designing a healthy, comfortable and energy efficient home to raise their children that maintained the freedom of secluded living. A Homeage to the classic tin shearing sheds surrounding it, The Korokoro Country house is a simple response that subtely operates to ensure a refuge amongst its rugged site. Large external  Barn-style sliders are able to close off and encapsulate the deck, maximising the use of built area and adaptively shielding sections of the home without closing it off entirely.
