THERMAL DESIGN REVIEW
Do you already have a design, but want an independent review from a thermal performance perspective? We have developed our Thermal Design Review package to give you guidance on your current design, without having to undertake full thermal modelling.
What is included in the THERMAL DESIGN REVIEW?
We will review you current plans and give you some professional feedback on potential risks affecting the performance of your home and opportunities to improve the thermal performance of your home.
Below is a list of common risks we find:
Surface area to volume ratio
Wall construction
Floor construction
Roof construction
Roof space ventilation
Thermal bridges
Areas with a high risk of condensation
Areas with a high risk of mould growth
Overheating risk
How much does this cost?
As every project is different we complete our Thermal Design Review at our standard hourly rates. Our initial review typically taking 3 - 5 hours so you can expect this to cost somewhere between $250 - $800 +gst.
We require a $250 +gst deposit before we start any work
This small investment early on in the design process can save you thousands in heating cost over the life of the building while improving the comfort and health of your home.
How long will it take?
Once we have all the information that we require and the deposit has been paid we aim to have our review back to you within 5 working days.
Could my architect or builder do this for me?
Most architects / designers / builders are not familiar with constructing a high-performance home to specific standards. So, while they may have their own idea on what high-performance is, if they do not have the specific expertise in the area, it would be worth getting an opinion from some who does.
At Mac Architecture we have over 10 year of experience designing high-performance homes across the country. Our Director Jason Macquet is a certified Passive House Designer and we have 2 certified Homestar Designers and Homestar Assessors in our office.
Does this only apply to new builds?
Not at all. We have a vast knowledge and experience working with renovation project and extensions. We can complete this review for any project type that you may be considering:
